LAL Vice Chairman

Bill was born in Perth in 1947, attended Caledonian Road School before moving on to Perth Academy.

He joined the British Linen Bank in June 1963, and after merging with Bank of Scotland in 1971, eventually spent 44 years with the company before retiring in August 2007. After spending most of his career in Branch Banking rising to Area Director, he then moved into Business banking as a Regional manager in operations, and finally spent 5 years in Corporate Banking as Director of External Affairs. 

Bill has been active in Perth's curling circuit for many years and is now the vice chair and treasurer of the Mercure Perth Bonspiel.

He is married to Avril, who is the Chairperson of Crossroads Perth and has two grown up children and one grand-daughter.

Present Roles:

  • Currently Vice Chairman of Live Active Leisure, Bill has been on the board since 2004.  He was previously Vice Chair from 2008 - 2012 and Chairman 2012 - 2016.
  • Past President of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club
  • Trustee Scottish Funding Council Trust
  • Vice Chairman and Treasurer the Mercure City of Perth Masters Bonspiel
  • Curling: Member of the rink that is the current holder of the Scottish Masters National Curling Championship (over 60s)
  • Golf: member at Blairgowrie Golf Club and Royal Perth Golfing Society
  • High Constable of the City of Perth
